Meet Our Education Director!

BA - University of Northern Colorado

MFA - Lousiana State University

Amanda Clark is originally from Broomfield Colorado and spent her early years in a dance studio. In her youth she trained in classical ballet, jazz, tap and modern until she was bit by the acting bug in high school. Amanda continued her education in dance and acting at the University of Northern Colorado where she majored in Acting Performance, and was nominated for the Irene Ryan Award for her performance of Portia in The Merchant of Venice.

 

After graduating she moved to the Bayous of Louisiana, working as an actor and teaching artist. She spent a season as a company member of Baton Rouge Ballet and was the Education Director for Playmakers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s premier children’s theatre. She also choreographed and acted in many productions with Playmakers such as ’Twas the Night Before Christmas, Pippi Longstocking, Alice in Wonderland and Shrek the Musical.  Amanda went on to receive her M.F.A. in Acting Performance from Louisiana State University and was a resident ensemble member of Swine Palace Theatre. In her time there she performed in the world premier of DOVE by Andri Luppe directed by Sean Daniels. Other credits include, All My Sons, Romeo & Juliet, The School For Lies, The Merchant of Venice, The Book Club Play and Frankenstein. After her time in Louisiana she moved to New York City and continued to teach and perform, credits include Snow White, Romeo & Juliet and Richard the II. Amanda also  served as a member of the Education Outreach Team for Ballet Tech school in NYC. Amanda is thrilled to make Kansas City her new home and is excited to dive into this thriving artistic community and join the Stage Right Family.

Anthony McMurray

Anthony McMurray is an award winning actor and comedian. Anthony's FILM/TV credits include the long running day-time drama All My Children, Job Interviewing Made Easy, and Night Herrings.  He has appeared in world stage premieres of Dove (Mart Indrek) and Leigh Fondakowski's Spill (Jason Anderson).  His commercial/print credits include Heinz Ketchup, Prilosec OTC, and Humalog.  Anthony received his BA from the University of Northern Colorado and his MFA from Louisiana State University.  Upon graduating Anthony served as the Artistic Director of Playmakers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana's premiere theatre for young audiences.  He is currently the Academic Ambassador at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.

Darrington Clark

BA - Kansas State University

Darrington is a Chicago based, professional actor, born and raised in KCMO. He's a founding member of Stage Right's Vocalocity show choir and has directed/music directed numerous productions including The Wizard of Oz, Once On This Island & Legally Blonde, to name a few! Regional theatre credits include The Coterie Theatre, Circa 21, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Children's Theatre of Madison, First Stage Theatre & Spinning Tree Theatre. Darrington trained in the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre's Emerging Professional Residency program and received his BA in theatre performance from KSU, where he served as Vice President of K-State Theatre and assisted in the creation of the university's first and only African American theatre course. He has served as a teaching artist at Spinning Tree and Children's Theatre of Madison. He's excited to work with the Academy on his returns to KC!

Alyssa Toepher

Hailed as a soprano with “unbridled dexterity” (Kansas City Star), Alyssa Toepfer is an active teacher and performer in the Kansas City Metro area. Stage credits include Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Lawrence Opera Theatre), Wanda in The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein & Jemmy in Guillaume Tell (Wichita Grand Opera), Adele in Die Fledermaus & Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi (Sounds of South Dakota), Pamina in Die Zauberflöte (Sounds of South Dakota/The South Dakota Symphony), Princess/#1 in Conrad Susaʼs Transformations (Kansas City Civic Opera), Gretel in Hӓnsel und Gretel (Opera Omaha), Adina in lʼElisir dʼamore and Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, (UMKC Opera), Norina in Don Pasquale and Mabel in Pirates of Penzance. Alyssa is a district winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD, she completed a BA in Music at Augustana University and a Master of Music in Voice at The UMKC Conservatory of Music & Dance.
